I am Raul Speek a Cuban Artist living in Wales.
I consider myself fortunate both to have been born into the Cuban revolution process and to be able to express myself as an artist. To date some of my best work has been acquired by different public and private collections around the world. In the present I live and work in a beautiful location in Solva, Pembrokeshire where you can come to experience my work as well as see some of it here on my web site.
We have recently ventured into Lavender Cafe - delicious food to add enjoyment to your visit here.
I have only just updated the status of sold works on this sight and apologise to people who have purchased in the past that prices were left besides the works for so long. These works are now marked sold.

WEBSITE LAUNCH
For the last year 4 of us Maria Jones, Ian McDonald, Heather Bennett and myself have been involved in organizing and writing an e magazine (ARTicle - cultural life on the edge) hosted by Oriel-y-Parc in St Davids. On the back of this we raised sustainable development funding to set up an information highway for the county's artists and galleries. This launched last Thursday (8th July 2010) - do go and have a look at it on www.artpembrokeshire.co.uk - it is not a selling site but gives information and contact details (so far) for 60 artists and 40 galleries and associated sectors.
FOUR SEASONS
Heather (my wife - she who must be obeyed) is exhibiting at the Cloister Gallery in the Refectory at St Davids Cathedral until 19th July - go along and have a look if you get a chance.
Havana Pontcanna

Pembrokeshire Weather Report Concert
September 19th 2009 7.30pm St Davids Cathedral The first live performance of this classical piece I have been writing for ten years. It is for piano, organ and voice and expresses the ever changing weather and the spiritual elements of this in the country of Pembrokeshire. Kathry Ashton - a member of the musical Swales dynasty - will be the wonderful clear voice you hear and other local musicians will play acoustic guitar, trumpet and saxophone. I will play piano and organ. Come along and enjoy.
Latest Exhibition
July and August 2009 Part of four person exhibition (ARTicle editorial board) showing in the Tower and Cafe space at Oriel y Parc from 14th July 2009. Go along and enjoy being there as they also house an extensive Graham Sutherland exhibition in their main gallery space and an excellent team of people who can provide you with information and leaflets about the area and what goes on here. Good cafe too. See their website for details http://www.orielyparc.co.uk/
Evening Out
19th August 2009 I am giving a talk and showing a film illustrating what it was like to grow up in Cuba and become an artist during the years of Castro's Revolution. If you are around come along and join in - starts at 7pm at The Old Chapel.
