It is June and finally the building works are nearly over - we have actually managed to partially re-open and given two more weeks will be completely there.   The energy seems to be very open too for paintings are flying out and our new venture 'Lavender Cafe' is attracting lots of people who like delicious food and a relaxing space to be.    We source as much of our produce from local suppliers and growers as we can  believing in supporting the local economy as well as restraining food miles!

After Raul's return from an amazing trip to Peru he has taken the experience and turned it into an energetic and colorful burst of painting of small works.   These are centred around sand, sea, sun and sky and are being exhibited as a group they are oil on canvas and are in a size range from 4"x4" to 12" x 12".   See the  gallery in the Works section entitled "Small Works Exhibition" for a preview.

Raul and Heather are travelling extensively during 2006/2007 During the next year Heather and Raul will be travelling to Provence, Peru, Ladakh, Rajistan, Pushkar Mela, Goa, Morocco, France, Venice Carnival, Italy, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.  Any galleries or individuals interested in commissioning work or exhibitions in those countries or as a result of this travelling please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The gallery will be open during these trips.

Limited Edition Prints are now available of most of the images in the 'Works' section of the webpage.  Please email the Gallery for further information and prices on/for individual pieces.

A double  library DVD of Raul's work and information about how he creates with images and music will be available from January 2007 - orders for this can be taken in advance £18.99 including postage.

Due to the number of tutorials Raul has been giving for people using his work for degree, GCSE and other studies (sometimes three a week) we have  decided to make a charge of £25.00 for sessions in future as these last at least two hours and Raul cannot deal with other visitors to the gallery during that time.

News June 2008

Finally we are re-opened even if only partially.  We now have the central gallery area working and our new cafe - Lavender Cafe.   After a recent visit to Morocco colour and texture are rife and the excitement of beginning to know another culture is also alive in Raul's work.   Lessons and commisions are now back and also the beginning of a series of talks to be held in The Lavender Cafe.  The first one is by Rosemary Hawley Jarman, world renowned author, who will read from her books (signed copies available to purchase) and talk about her writing career.   This will be on the 16th July at 8pm - come along and enjoy!

January to May 2008

We have decided to close down for a few months to totally revamp the gallery.  We are going to move upstairs to live and open up right across the ground floor as gallery space.   By the end of the project we will have extra space on either side of the Chapel - one side given over to a music space for recording music here and for Raul to have as studio space visible to visitors from inside the Chapel and on the other side sapce for people to site and have a tea or coffee while they relax or wait for children having lessons.    It feels very strange and a little nerve wracking after all these years (14) to think it will soon be so different here.

We are going to try to open partially for Easter holidays and at other times if people ring before they come or knock on the door we are available for sale and collection of paintings, photographs, CD's and music.

December 2007

This has been a strange month: several commissions near to completion.  They had been held up due to ill health - still a problem getting the medication right to control the high blood pressure but nearly there.   Solva is very quiet right now - much more so than usual as the world financial crisis starts to bite home.   Time for reflection and a wonder what next year will be like.
